In a single institution case series of patients with inherited macrothrombocytopenias (MYH9-RD, mono and biallelic BSS) and ITP, the authors measured MPDs by peripheral blood film evaluation and MPVs by two different blood cell analysers (ADVIA 120 [Bayer, Leverkusen, Germany] that uses two-dimensional light scatter and XE-2100 [Sysmex XE] based on the impedance method), and searched for the best cut-off values for distinguishing between ITP and inherited disorders. This evidence concerns the gene MYH9 and Macrothrombocytopenia.
