SOCS2 and infection: Our results show that ECM induces production of LXA4, a 5-lipoxygenase-derived arachidonic acid metabolite that dampens IL-12/IFN-γ production during infection with any of several pathogens [47] and up-regulates production of proteins that interfere with inflammatory cytokine signaling, such as SOCS2 [48] and promotes resolution[49].
