Consistent with the pro-migratory role of STIM1 and Orai1, suppressed expression levels of STIM1 and Orai1 in highly metastatic breast cancer cells inhibited lung metastasis after tail vein injection in immunodeficient SCID mice, which can be mimicked by pharmacological inhibitor SKF96365 [31]. This evidence concerns the gene STIM1 and breast cancer.
