Defects in the Hippo pathway lead to a lack of YAP/TAZ cytoplasmic sequestration which results in YAP/TAZ nuclear accumulation and, eventually, in tumour development [5]–[8] Indeed, we and others have previously described that deregulation of the Hippo signaling cascade components results in YAP dephosphorylation, nuclear sequestration and overgrowth [4], [9]–[15]. This evidence concerns the gene WWTR1 and neoplasm.
