At baseline, plasma insulin concentrations (obese vehicle: 6746 ± 508 pg/mL; obese compound 11: 7257 ± 620 pg/mL; lean vehicle: 1419 ± 260 pg/mL; lean compound 11: 1112 ± 88 pg/mL) and the homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance index (HOMA; obese vehicle: 36 ± 3; obese compound 11: 43 ± 5; lean vehicle: 6 ± 1; lean compound 11: 5 ± 0) were significantly elevated in obese compared to lean SHR-cp (Figures 4(c) and 4(d)).
