GBM initiating cells (GICs) are a subgroup of cancer cells that exhibit the ability to self-renew and express putative stem cell markers such as CD133, SSEA-1 (CD15), L1CAM, and CD44high (Galli et al., 2004; Singh et al., 2004; Bao et al., 2008; Son et al., 2009; Anido et al., 2010).
