Immunization with LJM17 and LJL143, two salivary proteins from Lutzomyia longipalpis, were able to induce an intense immune response with a high production of IFN-γ and low levels of IL-10 and TGF-β eliciting a DTH response after challenge of uninfected sand flies with an adverse effect to parasite infection in vitro[50].
