However, a recent study [35] reported that in patients with wild-type EGFR who were diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, high EGFR gene copy number correlated well with response to EGFR-TKI therapy (27.3% vs. 4.2%, respectively; p = 0.082) and PFS benefit (4.1 months vs. 2.1 months, p = 0.201), despite a marginally significant difference due to the sample size. Here, EGFR is linked to squamous cell carcinoma.
