We recently conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of lung cancer among never-smoking females in Asia and demonstrated that the rs2736100 polymorphism in the TERT-CLPTM1L locus on chromosome 5p15.33 was strongly and significantly associated with risk of adenocarcinoma of the lung (P trend = 10−20) and is replicated by other GWAS studies [18]–[20]. This evidence concerns the gene CLPTM1L and lung carcinoma.
