Interestingly, higher significance levels were observed in the 4-level polytomous models (Fig. S5), particularly with a pronounced signal in AA peaking between EXO1 and MAP1LC3C at rs1776161 (p = 7×10−4), contrasting with the vanishing association with the 3′ end of PLD5. It is possible that PLD5 represents a second hit that increases the risk for tumor progression. This evidence concerns the gene PLD5 and neoplasm.
