To further verify the presence of a basal cytokeratin/Her2/neu expressing subgroup and its relevance to emergence of basal-like breast cancer, we performed immunofluorescence double labeling with digital image processing of P63 (a bonafide basal and myoepithelial marker) and Her2/neu in day 20 and day 47 MCF10DCIS.com xenografts, normal breast tissues, and clinical comedo-DCIS patient samples. The gene discussed is ERBB2; the disease is ductal breast carcinoma in situ.
