Since the beginning of use of the epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) gefitinib and erlotinib for treatment of advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) [1], studies have shown that NSCLC patients with EGFR-activating mutations can benefit from TKI treatment [2], [3]. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
