The deletion of the checkpoint kinase Chk2 in any murine backgrounds with defects in the G2/M checkpoint, including Chk1 heterozygotes, and particular Mre11 complex or BRCA1 alleles, results in tumor predisposition, indicating that the G2/M transition is important for tumor suppression (McPherson et al., 2004; Cao et al., 2006; Stracker et al., 2008; Niida et al., 2010).
