As the role of 53BP1 in tumors has been shown in several studies to modify the sensitivity of BRCA-mutated cells to chemotherapeutic agents (PARP inhibitors, cisplatin) [17,18], future studies examining the role of 53BP1 in BRCA-mutated pancreatic cancer would be of clinical value. The gene discussed is TP53BP1; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
