For future experiments, we chose to concentrate on HIV-1 infection predominantly on iDCs using the CCR5 tropic viral strain, HIV-1Ba-L. These findings are in keeping with the literature which has shown that iDCs are more susceptible to CCR5 tropic viruses compared to CXCR4 tropic viruses and that mature DCs are more likely to be infected by either CCR5 or CXCR4 tropic HIV-1 strains [32], [33]. This evidence concerns the gene CCR5 and HIV-1 infection.
