The findings showed that AZD1480 efficiently inhibited the growth and tumorigenesis of thyroid cancer cell lines that harbored oncogenic RET alterations, likely through the inhibition of PI3K-AKT signaling; this result supports the use of this inhibitor in patients with thyroid cancer, particularly in those with advanced MTC, for whom there are no effective therapeutic options [103]. This evidence concerns the gene RET and thyroid gland carcinoma.
