Though a few studies have examined post-mortem OTR binding in the human CNS (using the same radiolabeled peptide as in rodents) (Loup et al., 1989, 1991), synthesis of small-molecule radioligands for the OTR (Smith et al., 2012), would greatly aid our understanding of the functional role of the OT system in human brain disorders and treatment.
