BCL2 and gastric cancer: Moreover, the similar morphologic features of apoptosis in gastric cancer cells SGC-7901 treated with tributyrin (i.e. not limited to chromatin aggregation, the unravelling of mitochondria, cellular breakdown and cytolysis) might be explained by the disturbance of apoptotic mechanism including the down-regulation of Bcl-2 expression and the up-regulation of Bax expression as demonstrated by Yan and Xu [14].
