The level of anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 showed significant increase (P<0.05) in the cirrhosis group 2 compared with the normal group 1 (2.57 ± 0.23 and 0.89 ± 0.09 ng/mL respectively), whereas no significance differences were observed between the high dose and the low dose treated groups when compared with the cirrhosis group 2 indicating enhanced apoptosis in silymarin and CLRE- treated groups as confirmed by the ratio Bax/Bcl-2 in Figure 11.
