Kameya et al. [13] in their morphological and endocrinological study of neuroendocrine carcinoma of the paranasal sinus found elevated plasma levels of cortisol and adrenocorticotropic hormone associated with adrenocortical hyperplasia in one patient while another case showed hypercalcemia with bone metastasis, hypercalcitoninemia with a high content of calcitonin in the tumor tissue. This evidence concerns the gene CALCA and hypercalcemia disease.
