Although we did not determine IFN-γ's effect by using a lower MOI of Erdman, which is less virulent than H37Rv [46], we speculate that the more virulent the infection is, such as one involving a higher MOI and a more virulent M. tuberculosis strain, the greater the likelihood that IFN-γ can enhance M. tuberculosis–triggered necrosis.
