In order to investigate if apoptosis (a form of programmed cell death) was induced in tumorigenic lung and cervical cancer cells as a consequence of LRP knockdown, and hence being responsible for the observed reduction in cellular viability, we assessed possible changes in the nuclear morphology of the cell and the level of activity of the apoptosis-associated effector protein – caspase-3 (key processes indicative of apoptosis induction [34], [35], [36], [37], [38]). This evidence concerns the gene RPSA and cervical cancer.
