Based on its dual role in TERT (telomerase reverse transcriptase) repression and cell cycle checkpoint regulation, downregulation at the transcript and protein levels in breast, prostate and ovarian cancers as well as the presence of a homozygous mutation in 1/10 breast tumor samples, Rai et al. [4] have previously suggested that MCPH1 may function as a tumor suppressor. Here, MCPH1 is linked to ovarian carcinoma.
