Indeed, the staining pattern correlates well with the reported level of EpCAM expression on the surface of breast cancer cells [14], as demonstrated by weaker staining of the MDA-MB-231 xenograft sections that express much lower amounts of EpCAM than T47D and MCF7, and as confirmed by flow cytometric analysis and Western analysis (Figure S1). This evidence concerns the gene EPCAM and breast carcinoma.
