Concerning that the entry of Ca2+ through NMDAR is the major pathway leading to excitotoxic cell death associated with ischemia, the present study firstly tested the effect of TRPV4 activation on NMDA-activated current (INMDA) in hippocampal CA1 pyramidal neurons and then explored the mechanisms underlying TRPV4-action. Here, TRPV4 is linked to ischemia.
