To demonstrate that our cultures of HPMCs from peritoneal washes would represent a more reliable model of adhesion respect to other previously proposed with HPMCs from other sources, we first analyzed their expression of ICAM1, since this adhesion molecule is known to be more elevated in HPMCs from peritoneal wash comparing with cells from omental biopsies [15] and it has been recently reported that the increase in ICAM1 expression promotes the adhesion of cancer cells [10], [24].
