Interestingly, the natural, iPLA2, and sPLA2 activities in plasma of CRC patients were increased in subjects with late stages (III and IV) as compared to earlier stage (I and II) disease (P = 0.0335, 0.0367, 0.0778, and 0.0345 for PLA2, iPLA2, cPLA2, and sPLA2, respectively; Fig. 2), suggesting that these enzymatic activities may be involved in CRC progression.
