Insulin detemir (IDet) is a long-acting basal insulin analog that has been tested in many patients as part of a basal–bolus regimen in randomized, controlled clinical trials and demonstrated a beneficial safety:efficacy ratio, with more predictable glycemic control, and less hypoglycemia and weight gain (in adults) compared with neutral protamine Hagedorn (NPH) insulin 16–19. Here, INS is linked to Hypoglycemia.
