The most widely characterized cytogenetic alterations in NB tumors include amplification of the MYCN oncogenic transcription factor at chromosome band 2p24, LOH or rearrangements of the distal portion of the short arm of chromosome 1 (1p31-term), chromosome 3 (3p22) and chromosome 11 (11q23), or gains of chromosome arm 1q or 17q. The gene discussed is MYCN; the disease is neuroblastoma.
