We have shown that defective efferocytosis in COPD (and other chronic inflammatory lung diseases, including bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome following lung transplantation) is associated with a decrease in airway levels of several C-type lectins including MBL and surfactants [14], [15], although levels of S-type lectins have not been assessed in COPD. Here, MBL2 is linked to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
