According to the functional crosstalk reported between other members of the MMP and ADAM families, showing a MMP7-dependent transcriptional and post-transcriptional activation of ADAM12 and ADAM28 [38], [39] as well as ADAM17 targeting of MMP-2 and MMP-9 [40], it is reasonable to speculate a regulatory connection also between MMP7 and ADAM9 in melanoma. The gene discussed is ADAM12; the disease is melanoma.
