Our data add a new dimension to the understanding of the role of α6β1 in tumour initiation because they indicate that the function of this integrin is regulated by VEGF/NRP2 signalling consistent with our previous finding that NRP2 interacts specifically with α6β1 and facilitates its association with the cytoskeleton and localization in focal adhesions (Goel et al, 2012b). The gene discussed is NRP2; the disease is neoplasm.
