MBD4 and schizophrenia: The second region was rich in CAST/EiJ SNPs, with the following SNPs found in the 5′ and 3′ UTR of the following genes: Syn2, Pparg, Mkrn2, Cand2, Rpl32, Mbd4 and Rho. Nonsynonymous coding SNPs were found in Tsen2, Raf1, Tmem40, Mbd4, Ift122, H1foo and Plxnd1. A few of these genes have been implicated in neurobehavioral phenomena, including the GABA transporter 1 gene Slc6a1, which is a candidate for anxiety-related disorders (Thoeringer et al. 2009), and Syn2, which has been previously implicated in schizophrenia (Dyck et al. 2009, 2011).
