Dividing the cohort according to WHO criteria for normal weight, overweight, and obesity (i.e., 18.5<BMI<25, 25<BMI<30, 30<BMI<35, 35<BMI<40, BMI>40 kg/m2), a correlation coefficient of 0.3 was found for each range of BMI (p<0.01), indicating that the relationship between high lipolysis and insulin resistance exists across the spectrum of fat mass. This evidence concerns the gene INS and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
