Although our study on a Kashmiri population did not find any significant correlation between the XRCC1 Arg399Gln polymorphism and an increased risk of CRC, similarly to many of the already reported studies, we did find an increased risk of CRC among Arg/Gln heterozygous cases compared to the controls (OR=1.47; 95% CI, 0.82–2.64). The gene discussed is XRCC1; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
