Abdel-Rahman et al(15) were the first to report that the XRCC1 399Gln allele, similarly to the XRCC1 399Arg/Arg genotype, was associated with an increased risk of developing CRC, particularly amongst young urban residents; however, these results were not reproducible and have not been demonstrated in any other population since. Here, XRCC1 is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
