Data from both high fat diet (presented here) and MCD diet-induced [18] liver injury clearly indicates that caspase-1 also contributes to the regulation of HSC function in different mouse models of NASH, indicating a need for further studies investigating the regulation and role of the caspase-1 inflammasome in hepatic stellate cells. The gene discussed is CASP1; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
