Our present study shows that sustained delivery of IL-1Ra from PF127 gel not only reduced the extent of hyperglycemia in GK-Gel group (Fig. 1A) but also improved the secretory function of β-cells for insulin processing (as evidenced from the decreased values of pro-insulin/insulin ratio (Fig. 3C) and HOMA-β (Fig. 2D) in GK-Gel group when compared with GK-saline) and insulin sensitivity (as evidenced from decreased HOMA-IR and increased QUICKI values for GK-Gel group (Fig. 2C and F) when compared with GK-saline group).
