Alzheimeŕs disease (AD) is defined by extracellular deposits of Aβ in senile plaques and intracellular aggregates of tau protein in neurofibrillary tangles accompanied by neuronal loss [1], [2], [3], [4], [5] in association with other abnormalities such synaptic and dendritic loss [6], [7], [8], [9], inflammation [10], [11], [12] and gliosis [13]. Here, MAPT is linked to Alzheimer disease.
