When comparing these 165 women to the rest of the cohort, we found that their median age and CD4 count were higher (40 versus 37 years, p=0.0023 and 464 versus 416 cells/μL, p=0.008; Wilcoxon test) but that there was no difference in terms of risk factor for HIV acquisition, ethnic origin, smoking status, previous AIDS, CD4 nadir, viral load, length of HIV follow-up or duration of ART. The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is AIDS.
