Using a logistic regression adjusted for age and gender (under an additive model), we identified a significant association between the G-allele of rs6921438 (increasing circulating VEGF levels [12]) and increased T2D risk (odds ratio [95% confidence interval]: OR = 1.15 [1.07;1.22]; P = 3.74×10−5; Table 1). Here, VEGFA is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
