TEAD1 and nuclear cataract: We know that after 80 treatments of guinea pigs with HBO, substantial amounts of disulfide-crosslinked αA- and ζ-crystallin are present in the water-insoluble (WI) fraction of the lens nucleus [26], and disulfide-crosslinked αA-crystallin exists to a large extent in mature human nuclear cataracts [9,34]; thus, the proteins eventually participate in crosslinking.
