Our aim was to replicate, in a large collection of European children, associations detected in prior studies on corneal curvature and astigmatism in Asians, which implicated the involvement of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFRA) gene in the determination of both traits and the FKBP12-rapamycin complex-associated protein 1 (FRAP1, also known as MTOR) gene in determining corneal curvature [10,11]. This evidence concerns the gene PDGFRA and Astigmatism.
