We demonstrated that miR-130a/301a/454 represses Smad4 expression through direct binding to 3′UTR, while we also noted that there are other miRNA consensus sites in the Smad4 3′-UTR (e.g., sites for miR-34a, miR-146a, and miR-199a, which have been identified as negative regulators of Smad4 in gastric cancer and glioblastoma) [33]–[35]. This evidence concerns the gene SMAD4 and gastric cancer.
