To investigate this, we analyzed the proportion of HLA-G+ T cells in lymph node and peripheral blood samples collected from patients treated with antiretroviral therapy (HIV-1 viral load<75 copies/ml, median CD4 count: 762/μl [IQR 528–1,152]) or with untreated progressive HIV-1 infection (median HIV-1 viral load: 73,500 copies/ml [IQR 1,300–252,000], median CD4 count: 430/μl [IQR 254–1,267]). The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is HIV-1 infection.
