Here, we show that recurrent bacteremias with the periodontal model pathogen P. gingivalis induce Sca1+/flk1+ endothelial progenitor mobilization from the bone marrow into the peripheral circulation in vivo and result in higher levels of both early and late EPC, distinct progenitor cell subtypes with dissimilar properties [42]. This evidence concerns the gene KDR and bacterial infectious disease with sepsis.
