Hailey-Hailey disease (HHD; also known as familial benign pemphigus) is a human autosomal-dominant skin disease caused by the loss of one functional copy of the ATP2C1 gene [5,6], characterized by acantholysis (a disruption of cell-cell contacts) in the suprabasal layers of the skin [6]. Here, ATP2C1 is linked to Hailey-Hailey disease.
