FAP and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma: By using a FAP-DTR mice, in which deletion of FAP + fibroblasts is induced upon diphteria toxin administration, Kraman et al. (2010) have shown that depletion of FAP-expressing cells in Lewis lung carcinoma and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma causes rapid hypoxic necrosis of both tumor and stromal cells by a process involving IFNγ and TNFα.
