The studies described here clearly demonstrate that, in fact, TSA has the ability to decrease total cholesterol content of neuroblastoma cells by up-regulating genes responsible for cholesterol catabolism (CYP46A1) [17] and efflux (ABCA1), and down-regulating genes responsible for cholesterol synthesis (HMGCR, HMGCS and MVK) and uptake (LDLR). This evidence concerns the gene HMGCS1 and neuroblastoma.
