In an observational study of 14,597 men with local or regional prostate cancer (Keating et al, 2010) reported a significantly higher risk of diabetes (HR=1.28), coronary heart disease (HR=1.19), myocardial infarction (HR=1.28), sudden cardiac death (HR=1.35) and stroke (HR=1.22) on LHrH analogues when compared to men not taking these agents. The gene discussed is GNRH1; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
