Three studies showed an association between low albumin levels and a higher risk for peritonitis (HR 1.67; 1.08–2.60 per 10 g/L decrease [10], HR 0.73; 0.59–0.91 per 1 g/dL increase [11], and OR 1.2 (P = 0.05) per 1 mg/L [42], resp). This evidence concerns the gene ALB and peritonitis.
